WHY SHOULD I SPONSOR A PROGRAM?
YOU have the local business. WE have the local audience.
With over 12,000 social media followers, 100,000 digital video views per month, and reaching 17,000 Cape Ann homes, your business will be placed front and center to residents in Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Essex.
Every sponsorship level provides an exclusive opportunity to target a local audience that we’ve already curated, at price points lower than what these social platforms would charge you directly, without having to do any of the work yourself.
We offer sponsorships for all of our top-tier shows including Cape Ann Today, The Color of Light, Timeline: Cape Ann, and more. The target audience for each program differs, providing you or your business access to distinct groups on Cape Ann.
WHAT IS CABLE ACCESS TELEVISION/PEG?
Cable access television—also known as public access television—is a vital way to share information, creativity and foster community relations. It first came about in the early 1970s when local franchising authorities (typically cities or municipalities) were granted the lawful ability to require cable companies (like Comcast) to set aside channels for public, educational, or governmental (PEG) use.
By its very definition, public access television is a free channel that airs programming created by the members of the general public, alongside educational and governmental/municipal content.
Public access channels must offer equipment and the knowledge that goes along with producing television shows. This includes making the studio, equipment, and behind-the-scenes staff available to people who want to air a show on public access television.
ARE YOU THE LOCAL COMCAST AFFILIATE?
WHEN WERE YOU FOUNDED?
1623 Studios was originally founded as “Cape Ann Regional Television Access Corporation” in 2006 as a public, education, and government programming channel (PEG Station) under sections of the Federal Cable Act, 47 United States Code 531.
WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR NAME?
We changed our name to 1623 Studios in early 2018 to account for how rapidly modern media and its consumption had changed towards expanding digital mediums. We wanted a name that encompassed all the distribution platforms where residents consume their information—not just cable television—and hearkened back to the founding date of Gloucester where our studio is located.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
1623 Studios is located at 11 Pleasant Street in Gloucester, MA 01930. We are open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During the COVID pandemic, the studios are closed and will reopen to the public in 2022.
