Do you have interest and/or experience in shooting video for broadcast and social media? 1623 Studios in Gloucester, MA, Cape Ann’s Community Media Center, is looking to expand its roster of camera operators to cover community events, municipal meetings, and 1623 original programs. If you are civically minded, want to be part of a creative and dynamic group, and are open to being trained on the new video camera equipment and live streaming technology that 1623 Studios is installing, then this position is for you. Applicants must be able to work independently, apply training, follow production protocols, and be willing to learn new technologies. We offer a comprehensive training program to bring you up to speed on our equipment. This is a freelance position that is paid by the hour.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Cover municipal meetings in person, such as city council meetings, board of selectmen meetings, town committee meetings, annual town meetings, graduations, and city elections
- Cover school committee meetings and education and school related meetings
- Cover community events as assigned
- Work as part of the crew during live, on-location programs
- Serve as camera operator on in-studio member shows, as needed
- Do crew on-location production duties, as assigned
- Pick up and return equipment during designated hours
- Set up and breakdown equipment
- Interact and communicate with on-location event hosts to secure camera location and take direction and instruction
Requirements
- Experience with video cameras and video technology preferred but not required
- Interest in bringing innovative ideas and communication to Cape Ann residents through video, audio, and social media
- Must have access to transportation to pick up equipment and get to assigned locations
- Have flexible availability to take on assignments that are during evenings and weekends
- Have a collaborative approach to working with others and be a strong team player
- Be curious, self-motivated, and adaptable to using new technologies
